Shipping Tab
The Shipping window controls the global shipping / delivery set up for your whole shop, it is fairly complicated because of the range of shipping types that people might want use, so it is best to have a think about shipping before your shop gets too big!.
As default there are 3 empty 'zones' that can be modified, added to, or disabled as needed, just select the zone and edit the title to rename these defaults, more information also can be added in the 'Description box'. If any are not needed just untick the 'enable zone' box to stop them being displayed in the shop.
Each of the zones has parameters that can be set (to the right of the zones list), these are independent of each other so one zone may charge shipping on a per item basis while another is by percentage. Also remember to click the settings button that corresponds to the shipping rule you've selected for the zone.
There are 5 main types of shipping:
- Per Item The simplest method a fixed price 'Per Item'.
- Per Cart A fixed price 'Per Cart'.
- By Percentage Priced as a percentage of the cart value.
- By Weight A weight is set in EACH product - each item is charged shipping for its weight, and these individual charges are added together (useful if all goods are dispatched separately).*
- By Cart Weight A weight is set in EACH product - the total product weights are combined to give a charge based on the total cart weight (ideal if all the items are shipped together).*
*NOTE - Shipping weights must be entered in every product if you want to charge shipping this way.
Per Item splice settings If the cost of shipping per item needs to vary, ticking the splice box on the setting popup allows you to set shipping charges depending on the number of items purchased. In the example (see photo left) 1-4 items would be shipped at 4 each, 5-9 items at 3 each and 10 and over 1 each.
Shipping Tax Set the tax rate or make the shipping zone tax exempt.
Min Price Minimum shipping charge per cart. Default 0 so the lowest possible value for shipping is free.
Max Price Maximum shipping charge per cart. Default 100 so maximum possible shipping charge is 100.
Max Threshold Maximum threshold for shipping to be charged per cart, any cart value over this will have free shipping. Default is 150 so any cart values over 150 automatically have free shipping (increase this to 99999 if you do not want an upper limit)
