Setting up a data feed isn't too difficult with Shopfitter 4 because it automatically generates an up to date feed file for you to upload to Google Base.

Here's a simple guide:

  • Go to http://www.google.com/base
  • Sign in or set up a Google account and then sign in
  • Click on Data Feeds (in the blue box to the right)
  • Select the "Settings" tab and complete the details requested - remember to click the "Save Changes" button
  • Select the "My Items" tab and click "New Data Feed"
  • Enter the file name: rss2.xml
  • Select an item type or Submit your own
  • Click the button starting "Register data feed..."
  • Scroll to the bottom of the next page, Shopfitter sets the format automatically
  • Click the button that starts "I'm done formatting..."
  • Under the column heading "Uploads" click the "Manual:upload file" link
  • Browse to the rss2.xml file - C:\Program Files\ShopFitter\ShopFitter 4\shops\"YourShopName"\web\rss2.xml
  • Click the "Upload and processthis file" button

That's it done, you'll need to reupload the feed regularly, depending on the timescale you specified in the Settings tab - every 31 days is the maximum length.
